Lona is the youngest member of our swissy pack, coming from a well known German kennel Marguery's (before known under the name Elchschaufel). She was born on 20. April, together with her brother Boromir. Her pedigree is a mixture of some important German lines. If her health results are all suitable, she will be the founder of the second (parallel) line, which will carry the name Karantanska in the future.

If I knew only few things about the health problems in swissies and didn't have many informations about different blood lines when I was looking for my first swissy, Nuba, it was all different with Lona. Taking a puppy from this litter was not a coincidence, but the result of studying different pedigrees for many years. Her mother Alaska is for me one of the most beautiful swissies I've ever seen. Besides great health background, she also has nice conformation of body and excellent movement. And the most important of all, a georgeous character. Same as her father, Castellan.

I would love to take another swissy under our roof but I realised it would be wiser to find nice coowners for Lona. I am well aware that for high quality breeding more dogs from different lines are needed. Moreover each dog needs a lot of attention and care. My dogs are important part of our family and instead of dividing my attention beetween 3,4,5 dogs, I decided to keep only two and provide them with best possible care: long walks more times per day, obedience trainings, nice journeys, petting, having good time together. So I think 2 females make us quiet busy. That is the reason I decided, to go into coownership with people I trust and who work towards the same goal as me. When we were attending a dog show together with my friend Mateja (who also breed swissies for more years and has one swissy bitch at the moment), I started telling her about my plans. She immediately like the idea and offered herself to take Lona in coownership. Only few months passed and we drove together to the north part of Germany to pick up our small sweetie. Lona is living with Mateja, who provides her a caring and loving home, but here and there she visits us too for some shorter vaccations. I am really thankfull to Mateja for all her help and understanding. And I would also like to express big thanks to Lona's breeders Gerlind and Margarete Roericht, who trusted us with this lovely girl.
happy coowners with Lona and her brother |
when in Slovenia, Lona went to the job with me every day |
Joy and happiness wrapped in sunshine is the perfect description of Lona. She is very lively, curious and high-spirited lady, with extaordinary temperament. After coming to Slovenia, she spent first month with me, because luckily I had a chance to take her to the work. She was a real attraction at the clinic with her friendly and outgoing nature. Because of her amazing character, self-confidence and desire to play with everyone, many dogs (our patients) forgot about their fears while coming to the clinic. Also Nuba and Diva were both very happy about new member and I think they both missed her a little bit when she went to new home. But Jan and Mateja were of course waiting for their new member too. She attended few dog shows already and was judged as very promising. We have big plans with her in the future.
